INSTRUCTIONS

At the initial session it’s common to begin with the parents only. If you have a lot of background information to share with the therapist, you may want to leave your teen at home so that their first impression isn’t sitting alone in the lobby for a long period. Confidentiality is especially important when working with teens. Information will only be shared with parents under certain conditions, including state laws and regulations regarding safety, and when the teen permits the therapist to share specified portions.
