Background:
Melissa has a heart for helping people feel seen, understood, and valued. With more than 28 years of experience in the health field, she discovered that her greatest passion lies in supporting others through life’s challenges and helping them reconnect with their sense of self-worth. She loves hearing people’s stories and walking beside them as they work toward healing and growth. She believes that healing begins in a space where people feel truly heard and accepted, and she strives to provide that sense of safety and connection in every session.
Outside of her work, Melissa enjoys hiking, exploring new places, trying foods from different cultures, and spending time with her husband of 30 years, their four children, ages 16 to 26, and their precious granddaughter. She values laughter, meaningful conversation, time spent outdoors with family and friends, and finds joy in simple moments of connection and togetherness.
Education and Work Experience:
Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Idaho State University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and is licensed to practice in Arizona.
She has experience working with adolescents, adults, and first responders, helping them navigate life transitions, trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, self-harm, and relational struggles. Melissa uses an integrated approach that draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. tailoring treatment to meet each client’s unique needs.

Melissa’s approach to counseling is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each person’s unique story. She believes in viewing each client as a whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and helps them build tools to strengthen resilience, self-compassion, and emotional balance.
Clients describe Melissa as genuine, warm, and approachable—qualities that help others feel comfortable opening up, even in life’s most challenging moments. Drawing from her work with women and young adults, as well as her experience as a mother of four and member of a large family, Melissa brings deep empathy and connection to her work. She is passionate about helping clients recognize their inner strength, create meaningful change, and live in alignment with their true self.
